Hi, I'm Colby.

I'm a full-stack and cloud engineer. By day I do consulting work — building and running software for companies large enough to have whole teams pointed at the problem. Wall & Web is what I do outside of that, and it exists because the same work priced for those companies is wildly out of reach for the businesses that need it most.

What pulled me into this field in the first place was building things and solving puzzles, and that's still my honest answer. A website for a bakery and a distributed system are the same kind of fun to me: something has to be figured out, and then it has to actually work when someone real depends on it. I like that a small business site has an obvious, checkable definition of done — the phone rings, or it doesn't.

How I work

You deal with me directly. There's no account manager, no team of subcontractors, no handoff to someone who wasn't on the first call. I scope it, design it, build it, and I'm the one who answers when something breaks at an inconvenient hour.

Pricing is one flat number up front, agreed before I start. Hosting and maintenance after launch are optional — genuinely optional, not a subscription you have to argue your way out of. If you'd rather host the site yourself, I'll set it up on your own accounts and hand over the keys. The site, the code, the content, and the domain are yours either way.

If price is what's stopping you, tell me before you walk away. I'd rather work something out than lose a project I want to build. And for a business I really believe in, I'd take a share of what it earns instead of a fee up front. Ask me — the worst I can say is no.

Everything runs on AWS — the same infrastructure I use professionally. For a five-page shop site that means it loads quickly whether someone opens it across town or across the country, it's served over HTTPS with a certificate that renews itself instead of lapsing, and it's backed up. This site is a working example: the accounts, quoting, checkout, and admin tooling behind it are all a Tier 2 build.

Where I am

I'm in De Pere, Wisconsin, just outside Green Bay, and I work with businesses across the Midwest and remotely beyond it. If you're nearby I'm glad to meet in person; if you're not, nothing about the process changes — most of it happens over email and a couple of calls either way.
